UPDATE: 2024 SUMMER PACKAGES ARE LIVE!!
Power Climb classes: interval training with focus on hill climbing
Looking to improve your riding & climbing in a fun yet challenging environment? LOOK NO FURTHER.
Velosophy Power Climb weekday classes cater to those who’re ready to start structured training whilst making new connections and friends out on the road. Our focus is primarily on hill repeats and moderate to high intensity, structured intervals. Every once in a while we have a class with less structure and more fun to help keep the atmosphere social & fun but there’s always a challenge and a good workout to be had while introducing the odd skill. A good example is the Thunderbird Crit Course workout - a mix of climbing, cornering & a smattering of fast pace riding, hence one of our most popular classes! Other than that the program is progressive & structured taking your skills up week by week. This class is low barrier to entry, you don’t need fancy gadgets to participate. So, whether you use a power meter, a heart rate monitor, both or neither, we have you covered and provide you with detailed coaching how to conduct your workouts with your what you have so you get the most efficient workout possible to maximize your gains!
This class is for everyone and all abilities, we have she’s, he’s, they’s and every pronoun under the sun, we train everyone. We also have multiple levels from novice, intermediate, up to advanced and if sign ups surpass last years we will add more levels each with their own designated coach. Group riding skills are NOT necessary for these classes, we have planned them in a way to keep commute times to a minimum and maximize workout time, this means once we begin, riders spread out and conduct their own workouts relative to their own ability and fitness. So no need to hold a wheel, keep up or slow down, you go at your pace using your own targets while coaches float amongst the you helping each individual rider as class progresses. We aim to give you as much 1-on-1 time as we can fit into each class.
***The only level we can’t cater to in this class is the “Learn to Ride” stage but if that’s you and you want help then please consider some private training from our services above as we can get you up to speed quickly (no pun intended) and into class if that’s your desire.
Requirements For all classes:
Drop bar specific bike with working gears and brakes gears (ie, a road bike, gravel bike, cyclocross or bike packing bike are acceptable BUT no fixed gears or single speeds please)
Certified 'road specific' helmet
Clip in pedals and shoes - and can confidently use them (as mentioned above, if you’re not at this stage yet we can help you privately to get you to a level where you can join classes with us)

What happens After Registration:
Once registered and FULLY paid, you will go into a private email list specifically for this class. Every class is preceded by an info email, usually sent the Friday before class only to registered athletes on this class list. Every week this email contains the following:
That weeks meeting location - the image is a link that when clicked on will generate a google pindrop in google maps to the exact meeting location for your class
A weather report - also an image that links to the weather so you can see what to expect for that day
Strava Map of the workout - again, this is a link which when opened using a desktop gives you information of our intended route and workout area (sometimes you can even figure out approximately how many laps or repeats we intend to do that week). The start point of this strava map is NOT always the same as our meeting spot as these maps are generic and don’t always include our commute to the workout area so please always refer to the meeting spot at the top of every email to know where we begin.
Note: It is important to add us to your safe senders list so you receive your weekly emails. It is also useful not to delete your email until class is completed so you can access the google pindrop feature for your class.
To register click the link below, this will lead you to a waiver, every rider must sign this waiver and follow the payment instructions included.
